Great British Travel Posters
Masham Gallery from March 31st I've been looking forward to this exhibition because it's a perfect opportunity to show the story behind the image. You see I've always loved travel posters ever since travelling the tube in London as a child. Designers like Fred Taylor and Norman Wilkinson really fired my imagination with their brilliant colour and the way the fonts and layout gave you a burst of a message as you rushed from the station entrance to the doors of the train. Josie and I have selected six subjects from the range we've made for Great British Travel Posters and we're displaying them with sketches, studies, sketchbook ideas and stories to show how the finished picture came to be. To visit the Great British Travel Posters website click HERE and here's a blog about the master poster artist Fred Taylor |

North Yorkshire Print Makers
Ryedale Folk Museum from 21st March I learned the basics of screen printing from a couple of friends when I was a student in Durham. I loved the vibrant immediacy of the paper emerging from under the screen. Many years later I was invited to join Printmakers Circle and it's been one of my better decisions. You'd struggle to find a lovelier or more diverse group of artists. Now in its 12th year, the Circle has some new members who will be showing work with us for the first time in this show. There’ll be some fantastic work - a whole range of printmaking styles and tecniques from screen print and collagraph to mono print and etching. The exhibition includes work by Hester Cox, Anna Matyus, Helen Peyton and more. |
