Hackfall is almost a hidden wood - you could drive by and never know there is a magical woodland filling the side a steep valley just on the edge of Grewelthorpe a couple of miles from Masham.

Places of Pilgrimage is the book of Ian Scott Massie's exhibition of paintings and prints which toured England in 2015 to 2017.
The images and stories look at special places where people go for all sorts of reasons: musical, cinematic, spiritual, historical, legendary or literary. The places range from the standing stones of Men An Tol in Cornwall to the granite city of Aberdeen in Scotland.
Ian Scott Massie spent two years travelling Britain portraying and writing places as diverse as Dylan Thomas’ boathouse (where he wrote Under Milk Wood), King Arthur’s castle at Tintagel and Greyfriars Bobby’s grave in Edinburgh. The result is a series of seventy paintings and screen prints which capture the atmosphere and personality of these places.
Places of Pilgrimage is published by SPCK.
